Mary Hillary was also an avid gardener. She planted and maintained a perennial flower bed west of the driveway. The grounds were filled with lilacs, tulips and roses.

Tennis Courts

The Hillary family was involved in the establishment of a Tennis Club in Aurora, hosting community tennis tournaments on their property. At one time there was a tennis court on the north lawn of the grounds, which was drawn by a lime roller. Two clay courts were later built at the west end of the pasture. These would be used by the Aurora Tennis Club for several years after its formation in 1910 until they established their own courts.
