Manitobans first tasted Olympic Gold with the Winnipeg Falcons Hockey team, composed mainly of Islandic Canadians from the Gimli area of the Province. Since then Manitobans have had success in the sport, most recently in 2002 when two men and two women were on the Canadian Mens and Womens National Hockey Teams.
