Robert Aldred, a nephew of Annie Aldred, spent many days in his youth at the Little Stone House where he observed Stan Gamble transform the clapboard house into the unique, picturesque Little Stone House / Tea House. Robert, as an eager young boy, helped with various aspects in the building process.5

Robert left school at an early age to work in construction and apprenticed in masonry and plastering. Upon meeting Anna ESTELLA Wall, Robert changed his goals for the future and returned to school and earned a degree in teaching.7

Estella and Robert married at the Anglican church in Glencoe and held their wedding reception at the Little Stone House. The Aldreds resided in Queenston near Niagara Falls where Robert took a position as a teacher, later moving to London Ontario. Robert devoted his life work to the field of education until his retirement. Estella and Robert have a family of three children - Mary Ann,Christopher and Janice.9

Robert put the many lessons learned under the guidance of Stan Gamble to good use when he purchased the Little Stone House from the Gamble estate in 1973. Under his care, with the help of son Christopher, the Little Stone House has undergone historic restoration, without altering its original appearance. Any repair work was done to maintain the uniqueness of the Little Stone House, however, the interior had to be brought up to modern building code.11

Robert Aldred and Elsie Thoonen published a book The "Little Stone House" which relates stories by Robert about his experiences as a young lad and illustrations by Elsie.14
