The set hour for fishing a lobster trawl is between 5:00 a.m and 9:30 p.m. and it is prohibitted on Sunday. Fishing a lobster trawl begins with catching the buoy that is tied on each end of the trawl. With a hydraulic hauler, the fisherman's helper brings all rope into the boat until the trap comes aboard. He then slides it along the side of the boat on to what is called a rack to where the trap are then emptied. Lobster are then measured and placed into a fish basket between pipe to seperate the lobster so they cannot harm one another. More bait can be added or changed for fresh bait, whichever needed. The lobster are then banded and placed into a fish tank of water with a pump to circulate the water in order to ensure the quality of the lobster.

This lobster trawl is being fished from the stern of the boat. The fisherman's helper catches the buoy and pulls the loose rope aboard their boat. Then he pulls the traps out of the water and into the boat where he places them on a table made especially for lobster traps. Then the captain cleans the traps out and puts the lobster in a basket to be measured and banded by his helper. The trap is then baited and ready to be set back on the lobster bottom.
