The social scene in Twillingate was busy and exciting. There were many social groups and gatherings, charity concerts and parades. Organizations such as the Society of United Fishermen, Orange Lodge, various church groups, Temperance Society, Dorcas Society, Twillingate Fife & Drum Band, The Church Lads Brigade and Arm Lads Brigade gave benefits and concerts in which Georgina performed. The warm summer months was an opportunity for family and friends to gather on the many beaches or go by boat to the off shore islands for picnics or an afternoon tea in one of the beautiful cottage gardens in the community.In the winter there was bob-sledding and when the harbour was frozen over ice-skating and sleigh rides.
Georgina's adolescent years were filled with many such activities. She would be long remembered not only for her beautiful voice but for her charitable works.

The Church Lads' Brigade was a Church of England boy's organization, organized along paramilitary lines and dedicated to the advancement of Christ's Kingdom among lads of all classes, the promotion of Christian charity, reverence, patriotism, discipline, self-respect, and all that tends towards true Christian manliness.The CLB was founded in Fulham, England in 1891 as a Church of England organization for boys between the ages of 13 and 21 but is now non-denominational and accepts both male and female recruits.
Twillingate had a very active group and often groups from Botwood, Grand Falls and other communities in Notre Dame Bay would come and camp on the St. Peter's rectory grounds.
