As already mentioned, the major sectors of Temiskaming?s economy hinged on the forestry, mining and agricultural industries. The excitement of business development in this environment was thick and infectious. Stores were well stocked in 1910, offering everything a household would need.

The George Taylor Hardware is of special interest in our history because of the sheer size of the operation with stores in Cobalt, New Liskeard and all major towns. A prize legacy of this business is the thick, expensively printed, catalogue they distributed, in hard cover no less.
