One of the largest celebrations of the Stampede was at the 100th Anniversary which was celebrated in 1990. Thousands of visitors lined up for the special events . A special logo was printed on pins, jackets and programs to advertise the event.

To acknowledge the original contribution of the North-West Mounted Police, the Canadian Mounted Police performed the Musical Ride at the Wood Mountain Stampede in 1990.

One of the results of the 100th Anniversary rodeo was financial stability for the Recreational Club with enough funds to build a new dance hall known as The Outpost. Dances, cowboy poetry and reunions have been held there.

Even though there were special celebrations the crowds continued to focus on the rodeo cowboys. Home town cowboys were doing well in the bigger arenas. In 1992 Mark Roy's won the Steer Wrestling Championship at the Canadian Finals and the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

"Mark Roy will never forget 1992. That year Roy won the remarkable steer wrestling triple crown - the Canadian, World and National finals Rodeo average titles.
Roy, 35, won more than $74,000 at the NFR in Las Vegas, a record for steer wrestling. His 1992 earnings topped the $130,000 mark. "

Little Britches rodeos have given many ranch children a chance to participate in rodeo. One of the ‘graduates' of Little Britches to excel was David Roy, who won the $50,000 in steer wrestling at the Calgary Stampede in 1993.

To assist young cowboys in developing their skills, rodeo promoter Pat Fitzpatrick started a bronc riding school at Wood Mountain in 1992.

"The kids learn the rules, how to work with people, sportsmanship, fair play and integrity. The kids have to learn how to ride properly because they are not strong enough to hang on otherwise."
