Sports have played an important role in Dalhousie's cultural life from early times. Some of our earliest records make mention of children at play and since at least the late 1800s, the town has been involved, both formally and informally, in sports of one sort or another.

Dalhousie was one of a few New Brunswick communities with an active ski club. Information provided by older residents indicates that it was Scandinavian engineers at the mill who popularized the sport.
