In Colby Family Sketch, Charles William writes : "The advent of C3, christened to bear his own name, was also a great gratification. Among his pleasures in 1905, one of the greatest must have been his ability to help Kitty and me to have a home on Pine Avenue (Montreal) which should be ready for the reception of the infant Charles. I can never forget the satisfaction which he and mother had during 1906 with Winlock, 560 Pine Avenue and his new namesake."

This photo was taken on the porch of Winlock, the summer cottage of Charles William Colby on the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog. John H. E. later wrote "It was a beautiful property about six miles south of Georgeville and directly opposite Owl's Head. It was an exciting event when my father would take me with him for a visit. We always got a warm welcome from my Uncle Charlie and Aunt Kitty. There was a fine sandy beach at Winlock where my father and I would go swimming or take
one of the rowboats out fishing."
