In June of 1999 Alvin composed the Whitney Pier Historical Society Jig.

Alvin told the Community Memories team that although he wrote the tune at 4 am he waited until later to call the museum's former president, Sandra Dunn, to tell her about it.

Sandra is seen here (on the far right) with longtime volunteer Thelma Murphy and Fr. Stanley MacDonald.

With help from Carole Lee Boutilier, who edited Alvin's music, the framed notes to the "Whitney Pier Historical Society Jig" now hang on the wall of the museum.

In the fall of 2003 Alvin realized his dream when he played with the Celtic Colours fiddlers during the festival's opening night.
