The Village of Newcastle, Ontario was incorporated in 1856. The photographs in this collection are essentially from the 32 sixteen millimeter films created by the late Cecil Carveth. The films were donated by Newcastle resident Jack Gordon to the Newcastle Village & District Historical Society in 2009. These films date from 1935 to 1960 and show what life was like in Newcastle during that period of time.

The photographs in this collection are of people and places in the Village of Newcastle and the former Township of Clarke. The photographs show the various people, buildings and scenes from the area.
