Eijiro Shishido was born September 13th, 1883, in Fukushima-ken, Japan. In 1906, he immigrated to Hawaii, where he worked for a year and a half. In 1907, Eijiro travelled to Canada, arriving in Vancouver.

Kura Tokairin was born in 1885, in Fukushima-ken, and was a picture bride. Kura and Eijiro were married by proxy July, 1912. They remained apart for almost five years, until Kura arrived in Canada on March 16th, 1917.

Eijiro and Kura lived in Vancouver for a number of years, where Eijiro worked at various jobs and Kura did housework. After leaving Vancouver, they lived in Enderby, in Rutland, and finally settled in Winfield in 1929. The Shishidos purchased a farm with fruit trees and spent the rest of their years in Winfield. They were active members of both the Koyukai Friends and Fellowship Association and the Aobakai Haiku Club.
