The members of the Laurentian Club generally are wealthy, and sometimes even famous, such as the couple Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Sr., and Rose Fitzgerald, daughter of John F. Fitzgerald, democrat mayor of Boston.
Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Sr. (1888-1969), patriarch of the Kennedy family, was an important American politician. The couple had nine children, including Joseph Patrick Kennedy Jr., American President John F. Kennedy, Robert Francis Kennedy and Edward Moore Kennedy.

Joseph Kennedy gained his wealth and enormous influence during the 1920s and 1930s. He was U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1938-40. His ambition is such that he decides one of his sons will be President. He put his hopes in his elder son Joseph Kennedy Jr., but after his death, he focused on his youngest son, John Kennedy. He became the 35th and youngest American President in 1961. After Kennedy's assassination in 1963, his younger brother Robert Kennedy became head of the family and ran for the presidential elections in 1968. He was also assassinated during the campaign.
Other members of the family likewise gained fame in politics or diplomacy as ambassadors or senators.
