A street scene on 50 Avenue in front of the Arlington Hotel. P.J. Mullen's house and a Massey Harris Agency can be seen in the background. P.J. Mullen was an entrepreneur who came to Millet from North Dakota in 1899 with his wife and baby daughter, Esther. He settled on land northeast of Millet before building a home in the village. He became a land agent who promoted the Millet area by doing extensive advertising in the United States that attracted many Americans to settle here. Ca 1905.

Street scene in front of John (Jack) West's Millet Mercantile Store that he built in 1903 on Alberta Street (50th Avenue). The store had living quarters on the upper level. Across the alley, to the left, is a Cream Station where farmers brought their cream to be sent to Edmonton by train.
Jack West was born in Moscow, Idaho, USA, and came in 1892 as a young man to homestead in the Battle River District southwest of Wetaskiwin. Here he met his wife, May Newsted, from Chiboygan, Michigan, whom he married in 1899. In March of 1903, they and their daughter, Marjorie, moved to Millet where they spent the rest of their lives.

The Millet Methodist Church was opened in 1903. It is situated on the north side of Minto Street (49th Avenue).
Part of the manse built in 1907 is seen beside the church.
The sidewalk was built in 1904.

Many early settlers in the Millet area came from Nebraska. Upon becoming acquainted, they decided to form a club that they named The Nebraska Club where they met regularly to socialize.

Millet Post Office, built by John (Jack) West in 1910, located at the northeast corner of the intersection of 50th Avenue and 50th Street across the highway from the Old Bank Stopping Place of today (2004).
Jack West was the Postmaster in Millet from 1909 to 1913.
