The flood of 1937 was the worst flood Thamesville ever experienced but it was not the last. Another major flood took place in 1947 and many minor floods followed throughout the years. Finally, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority was formed and it worked to manage the rising waters of the Thames River. When the Fanshawe Dam in London, Ontario was built, Thamesville no longer had to worry about the Thames River flowing into the village.
