Wetaskiwin is probably the most famous of the gunshields. The queen sitting in a puddle of water is known as "The Wet Ass Queen" an obvious play on the ship's name. It is one of the first two gunshields to be hung in the Crow's Nest.

Skeena, named for a salmon river in British Colubia, has a jumping salmon as her badge. Her gunshield depicts a rather seductive salmon luring a U-boat while holding a depth charge under her fin. Presumably they are in for a fatal encounter.

While not a gunshield or badge, the picture "Lulu Belle" was a much sought after prize in the fleet and crews plotted as to how to "recruit" her to their ship. Press gangs were often sent to other vessels to entice her to jump ship. The success of these ventures can be seen in the number of ship's stamps around the border. Eventually, someone decided to turn a portion of the picture into a discharge book to record her service which according to her medal ribbons, may have included action against the enemy.
