The 1993-94 minutes of the Central Okanagan Heritage Society show their interest in restoring the Brent's Grist Mill building, but development had taken place all around them, and access for the public had become difficult. The Society also did not have money to purchase the land and buildings. The City of Kelwoan, in 1999 assisted by initiating a feasibility study to consider moving the buildings to a more suitable site, and forming a partnership with COHS to restore the buildings at the new site. Don Luxton and Associates were hired, working with City staff, members of the Heritage Society and Historical Society and other community groups to develop a Conservation and Feasibility Plan. This Study was adopted by the City of Kelowna Council in December 2001. The buildings were moved to the new parsite and placed on new foundation in approximately the same relationship to the Mill Creek as originally built. In 2004 the buildings and park received designation as a Municipal Heritage Site. Planning meetings and attempts to raise funds for the restoration has been ongoing since 2000. It is anticipated that the restroation/rehabilitation could start in 2008.
