Major Robert John Black (1880-1968)

Living Scouting as, 'a way of life', Robert John Black was synonymous with Brantford Scouting. Introduced to Scouting as a boy in England his service began in 1931 with the 10th Brantford Troop (Canadian Legion). There he served as Scout Master from 1936 to 1968. In addition, he held many other District offices, including District Commissioner (1947-1963). As District Scoutmaster he rebuilt the Scouting family in Brantford with consistent and exceptional leadership. In the Scout centennial year (1907-2007) he was honoured as one who epitomizes all who have given leadership to Scouting in Brantford.
