Christmas

At Christmas, the police association would hold an annual party for their families. It was called the Christmas Tree Party. Shown here is Detective Bruce Greenfield with his son Paul and Trudy Hanwell, daughter of Sgt. Hanwell. At the party, there would be a Christmas carol sing-along, games and a visit from Santa Claus, which would include gifts distributed to the children. Later on in the years, other Christmas parties involved renting a pool for swimming or renting an arena for ice skating.

In every police association in Ontario, the wives of the officers form an auxiliary. They assisted in many functions that the police held, such as police dances, Christmas parties and fundraising. They would also provide a luncheon if a police officer passed away.

Police Association's Annual Ball

Every year, the police association hosted a ball. It was organized by the Ladies Auxiliary. Any profit from the ball would be used towards the Christmas Tree Party and to help local charities.
