Each of the Kinsmen cadets took one or two of the Carbonear cadets to his home for dinner. Pat Dooley and Mildred Penney were invited by cadet Derek Young to the home of his father Eugene Young. Here they met his mother and his two brothers, Keith and Richard.18

A full house was on hand to see the Air Cadet hockey team engage the St. Bon's Senior Inter-collegiate team in a most exciting game last evening. From the starting whistle the players gave all they had and both teams showed good combination and, while your reporter knows very little about hockey, she knows that it is "team work" that wins the game.
The first period was anyone's to the final whistle and it ended 3-1 in favour of the Air Cadets. The second period was definitely that of the Cadets, who seemed to have it all over the visitors. It ended 8-2 in favour of the Cadets. The third period saw St. Bon's put on a scoring spree, netting the puck no less than 7 times, as against the Cadets 2 goals. Excitement in this period certainly ran high and when we say it was anyone's game to the last we are quite correct. The period ended 10-9 in favour of the Air Cadets.
Gillies for St. Bon's was outstanding scoring 4 of the 9 goals. Redmond netted the puck twice and Wakelin , Barrett, and T. Murphy once each. Curley Penney did for the Cadets what Redmond did for St. Bon's, netted the puck 4 times. Jim Penney and Fred Rossiter scored 2 goals each, with Reg Parsons and John George chalking up one each.
Players for St. Bon's were: Robert Redmond, Billy Gillies, R. McCarthy, Dave Barrett, M. Frelich, John Royal, A. Manning, Brian Wakelin, Joe Murphy, Pat Melvin, Tom Murphy, Bob Dunne, David Sinnott, and Billy Ryan.
Referees- D. Sharpe and N Sparrow.
The Air Cadets were represented by: goal, Guy Brien; defense: Reg Parsons, Pat Dooley, and John Furey; forwards: Curley Penney, Billy Pumphrey, Ern Cole, Jim Penney, Fred Rossiter, John George, and Dave Thomas.
It was a good game of hockey and the fans certainly enjoyed it.

On Saturday, March 10, 1956, twenty five fans accompanied the Carbonear Cadet hockey team to St. John's by bus where they played Prince of Wales College. The score was 6-1 in favour of the cadets. The fans were enthralled with the splendid passing and clever play of the cadets. Curley(Carl) Penney was a spark plug for the cadets and dipsy-doodled through the whole P. W. C. team to score. The line of Carl Penney(3), Fred Rossiter(1), and Billy Pumphrey(2) scored all six goals for the cadets. Banjo Winsor scored the lone goal for P. W. C.25

On Thursday, May 17, 1956 an Inter-Cadet Sports Day was held on the United Church Academy playground. Taking part were the Carbonear Air Cadets, the Bay Roberts Army Cadets and one member of the Harbour Grace Sea Cadets. The meet was won by the Carbonear Air cadets with a score of 87 points while the Army cadets amassed 30 points and The Sea cadets 22 points.27
