Four new bugles were presented at the Awards Night in November 1956. These bugles were gifts from Dr. A. T. Rowe, Dr. George Kennedy, Bob Nutbeem, and the local sponsoring committee. They were presented to l/r Fred Rossiter, Fred Penney, Wilbert Pye, and Harris Hiscock.

The hockey team were also in operation in 1956-57. With new uniforms and a few new members they were ready to challenge anybody. Sadly, this was to be their last year.

Before Annual Inspection in 1957, a meal was served in the auditorium. One hundred and forty sat at supper and they included the St. John's visitors, the officers of 589 and their wives, members of the Sponsoring Committee and their wives, sixty four cadets, and a number of parents. The meal was served by the United Church Women's Association. There was free time between 6:15P.M. and 7:00P.M. ,for anyone who wished, to inspect the Orderly Room, the range, the workshop, etc. used by the cadets. Inspection took place at 7:00 P.M. on the playground. It was a bit chilly on the grounds and many of the "fairer sex" chose to remain indoors and watch proceedings from windows. The remainder of the proceedings took place back in the auditorium at 8:00 P.M.
