The 1956-57 cadet hockey team had their own uniforms. Many of the boys from the previous year had returned and there were several new recruits. However, this was to be the last year for the hockey team as the S. W. Moores Memorial Stadium opened in Harbour Grace the next year and many of the cadets went on to form the Carbonear senior hockey team. It is not known what became of the new uniforms.33
The 589 Air Cadet hockey team hockey team had been a source of interest, inspiration, and entertainment for 2 years. However, many of the players did move on to play for Carbonear and indeed win a Conception Bay North Championship in the late 50's. Carl Penney, Ern Cole, and Jim Penney won several provincial championships and a world masters championship while playing with the now famous Conception Bay Cee Bees. |
