Once again 589 were the best squadron in sports at summer camp. Training Officer Roy Noel accepted the trophy on behalf of the Squadron.Audio Transcript:
And once more, 589 won the Lion's Trophy as the Best Newfoundland squadron in the 1957 summer camp in Greenwood.

Another good year had passed. The squadron was now well established. Boys were willing to join and there was plenty of community support. The ranks would swell to its high of 120 cadets a few years later. Girls would join in 1974 making it a truly community based squadron. The 589 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron was well on its way to 50 years. |
