Portable sawmill
1937
Northern British Columbia, Canada

Portable was the operative word when describing these smaller sawmills. This one was operated by a Ford motor hauled to the site by a dog team during the winter of 1937-1938.

23

These sawmills were an event in themselves, as many were portable and disappeared soon after the ready supply of trees was gone. If photographs had not been taken of these mills we would have little proof they existed at all.
