Here is Earl Estell, also in his 'good' clothes, on horseback. He and his brother must be on their way to the same gathering.

Besides being a machinery person and mechanic, Earl was a great hunter and fisherman. He loved camping out, and was a trophy trap-shooter. He also had trophies for curling.

Earl lived with his parents on their farmstead, until purchasing his own close to Mirror in 1916.

He also married Hazel Hoffman, of Tees in 1916, and they had three sons and a daughter.

Here is a Main street view of the garage that Earl and Ross Estell ran together.

It was 'officially' named the "Mirror" garage, but most folks simply called it the Estell garage, or Estell's garage. The Estell's ran a Chrysler dealership out of here for awhile as well.

Earl was always interested in machines and had a big Stanley steamer, with which he used to do custom work. In 1910, he and Clark Barritt opened a machine shop in Alix.

In 1911, as soon as Mirror started up, he moved his shop there and purchased a car to see if he could take it apart and put it back together. Finding he could, he opened his garage not long after. He first ran his garage out of an existing building, then built the garage in this photo in 1918.

The building is all brick, and today houses "Trowlsworthy Industries", a lumber and hardware store.

Left to Right are:

Dick Paul - railroader/engineer
Lorne Davies - (killed in the war)
Paul Estell - mechanic (ran the garage later)
Jack Hume - farmer
Ross Estell - worked in garage
Jim Ekersaw - farmer?
Mr. Bitman - shoe maker
Jim McCloud - railroader
Earl Estell Sr. - owned the garage
