Although all the Ray boys played baseball, having enough boys in their family to make their own team, Kid Ray was the one who actually became known for his baseball talents.

His name hangs in the Edmonton Baseball Hall of Fame.

Kid was also a barber in Mirror for many years, and his wife was a hairdresser. They had a shop on main street. In their shop they erected a wall down the middle of the room, using half as a barber shop, and the other half as the beauty salon.
