Transporting the horses posed a problem for many of the contestants.
The Pontiac and Pacific and Gatineau Valley Railway agreed to run excursions to the match at Ottawa and to carry the champions with their teams of horses and ploughs down and back free of cost. The other railways soon followed, including the Canada Pacific Railway which was the one that Harris took to Ottawa.

The Ottawa Journal,October 24,1900, reported that the ploughing match for the championship of the Ottawa Valley and district was a decided success.
Five thousand people visited the J.R. Booth farm coming from all over the district.
The weather was favourable and the site good.
Ploughing started at 8 o'clock in the morning and continued to 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
Each contestant had to plough one-third of an acre.

The Ottawa Journal of October 24,1900 lists the Ontario Champions.
The winners, where two names are given the first name is the senior champion, the second name is that of the junior representative.
Harris Brown of Beachburg placed 5th in the Junior Series with 33 points.
