The Shomer Club ceased functioning in 1995 as the number and energy level of the community's seniors declined.

In the "Golden Age", there were a large number of activities which took place in the synagogue hall including communal dinners at certain holidays and dinners for Jewish causes such as State of Israel Bonds and Youth Aliyah.

Jennie Brownberg, Rose Freedman, Clara Bernstein and Erminie Cohen were among the women who took an active role in the State of Israel Bonds drives, mainly the realm of the men of the Ezra Lodge of the Zionist Men's Organization of Canada, and were honoured for their work.
