Miller Sells to Crowe
Whether or not it was the loss of Miller's Swedish mill-men, or because he saw no hope of making a success of the business I do not know, but I suspect the latter. About this time, however, a gentleman by the name of Harry J. Crowe arrived in town. It transpired that Miller and Crowe had been carrying on negotiations for some time. Before the season ended we learned that a deal had been made by which the property had changed hands and that henceforth we would all be working for the new owner. We learned also that a new company had been formed, the name of which was "The Newfoundland Timber Estates", surprisingly enough there was no stoppage in work. The mills continued to operate until the logs had all been sawn.
