Dalhousie continued to grow into the 20th century, but it was surpassed by nearby Campbellton when the Intercolonial Railway was built before Confederation. Largely because of the hills, the railway bypassed Dalhousie.15
Dalhousie's development was rapid, but the region remained remote, isolated from the more prosperous centres in southern New Brunswick. |
