The original owner of the property was Brookes Howard who may have been a Quaker but became known in the community for his good works with the Christian Church.

This farmhouse was owned by a Quaker Benjamin Cody. After he retired to Newmarket, the building was boarded up and stood for years on Yonge Street north until the land around it was bought up by developers to be used for housing. It now stands surrounded by subdivisions and is used as a sales office.

The Bogart family came from Muncy Pennsylvania in the fall of 1802 not with Timothy Rogers. Although we are not sure they were Quakers they established a mill on Bogart creek and eventually Bogartown grew up around their location.

The Bogarts were "fence viewers" in their early days (checking rules for crown deed infractions) later a Bogart was in business in Newmarket with Trent and Simpson. A Bogart supplied money for the first library in Newmarket, and later established a grammer school in Newmarket.

Joseph Bogart delivered the Royal Mail M. V. Bogart was secretary of the school board, and Pickering College, a Quaker College, was built on Bogart land.
