Then again in April 2003, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality also awarded the museum with "Certificate of Appreciation" in recognition of its role as a volunteer organization.

And of course, volunteers have also participated in a wide range of fundraising events. Here we see volunteers raising money selling t-shirts, ball caps and sweat suits. The money raised went toward paying off the museum mortgage.

In the center photo, another longtime volunteer, Duncan MacKay, receives a treat from former president of the Whitney Pier Historical Museum, Margie Roberts at a refreshment stand. In the bottom photo, Margie and another volunteer work the watermelon stand!

In October 2003, the Whitney Pier Historical Society hosted a Seniors' Tea at the museum. The event was held in conjunction with Pierscape, the Whitney Pier arts Festival.

Tea Time

Museum volunteers recently began holding Summer Tuesday Teas, complete with entertainment by the Kitchen Party.

The lady in red is a former Pier resident who volunteered to show the crowd her moves when she joined in the fun one Tuesday afternoon!
