The last operator of steamboats on the upper Peace River, the Hudson's Bay Company, also operated gasoling powered boats, beginning with the Weenusk, launched in 1921. This was followed by the Weenusk II which operated from 1940 to 1951.

The last sternwheel design boat to be used on the upper Peace River was the Alcan, which was gasoline powered. It was used by the United States Army during World War Two. In 1946 it was moved off of the Peace River.

The last commerical vessel to operate was the Watson Lake, owned by the Hudson's Bay Company. This gasoline powered boat was used during the 1951 and 1952 seasons. After its final run in September of 1952 the Watson Lake was relocated.
