...Where it fitted perfectly. As it turned out much of the original structure was rotten, and had to be replaced - it might have been quicker and cheaper to start afresh, but the Heritage Society were happy to have at least part of the original building still in existence.

Work began on strengthening the structure, replacing the roof struts, and roof; altering the entrance, and placing windows where none had been before

New shingles replaced the old ones, and the doorway was recessed - so apart from the size, probably not too much is left of the original building, but it does still vaguely resemble the old Ice House!

By October 2012 the Ice House was almost finished on the outside - it needed a name and entrance doors, but it was certainly an improvment on the original building. This was followed by a waiting time - money was needed before the Centre for the Arts could commence. Meanwhile the new foyer was a store for an assortment of builders supplies - a pity the interior could not be completed as over the following months it would have been put to good use for talks,displays and a meeting room.
