South Fork

April 27, 1908 South Fork School District #1803 was established and in the winter of 1908-1909 two broadaxe carpenters, Chas. Lineham and Geo. McGrady built Caroline's first school called South Fork. It stood 1 mile south of Caroline and on the south side of the Raven river where
the cemetery is now located. The first teacher, W.H. Devore, was from Texas. Two adult pupils that attended this first class were E. Elickson
and W.C. Browning along with several children. The log building was closed in 1941 and the children were moved into the Village of
Caroline.
February 7, 1948 South Fork District #1803 officially changed its name to Caroline #1803.
South Fork was the first school in the Caroline Alberta District.
