The Start of the War, Recruitment, and the Regiment

The Second World War began with the invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. Two days later Great Britain and France joined to defend Poland and honor the Mutual Assistance Treaty by declaring war on Germany. On September 10th, 1939 King George VI announced to the world Canada's entrance to the war defending the Allies.
