Hamilton Mack Laing

AcknowledgementsThe Comox Archives and Museum would very much like to thank Mr. Richard Mackie for his help in the making of this project. His book provided the major source for biographical information on Laing, which was used throughout the project and particularly in the 'storylines' section. While the structuring of the Community Memories project does not allow for proper academic-standard citation such as footnoting, we would like to acknowledge Mr. Mackie's book as a principal source for the vast majority of biographical information used in this exhibit. The bibliographical data for Mr. Mackie's book is as follows:Mackie, Richard. Hamilton Mack Laing: Hunter-Naturalist. Victoria: Sono Nis Press, 1985.We would also like to thank the BC Archives (www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca), the Atlas of Canada, and such individuals as Terry Jorden, Muriel Guiguet, Duncan MacDonnell (www.2m.ca), and Neville Mayers for allowing us the use of their photographs. Thanks are also owed to the Royal BC Museum, who have allowed us to reproduce the cover of Laing's biography of Allan Brooks free of charge; to "The Auk" for allowing us to reprint Laing's smaller biographical article on Brooks; to the Canadian Geographic, for permitting the use of Laing's 1937 article, "Four-footed Trailside Friends of the Rockies"; to Betty Brooks for loan of items to be photographed; and to Magic 98.5 FM for giving us assistance and studio time for the digitization of audio files.
