Influences of Emma Lake Art School

TRANSCRIPT

Lorenzo Dupuis spoke about his recent experience at Emma Lake Artists' Workshop (his fourteenth time in attendence).

So once I was there, I just set up in the forest. I love painting from the forest interior, so I set up a big tarp, and just went at it. I think in the space of ten days I just worked like a 'mad-person'. I did forty/fifty paintings: 12 large canvases and about 38 panels. I just went day and night, day and night, day and night. It was difficult to do that at home, because there are many interruptions. There (Emma Lake), you are fed and looked after. You just have to get a few hours of sleep and you're back at it. There is a bit of group synergy as well. Everyone else is working and they are offering you feedback constantly...and it just gets the moment going.
