C. McChesney: Your father was the first of the Kaplan family to come here? And what year did your father come to Kirkland Lake? How did he get here? How did he decide to come to Kirkland Lake?

N. Kaplan: Well he was in Timmins. And somehow he just did not like it there. So next stop was in Cobalt. That was 1915. He met a man in Cobalt and he told him about Kirkland Lake. He was a mining engineer. You go to Kirkland Lake, there are mines starting up . . . and it looks promising. That's when my father got here.
