Alfred Schiman writes: "When the train came into town, even if you had no reason to go otherwise, you would go to the station to see this big hissing, smoke belching locomotive pull into town. I guess they had some way of cutting their power, and they would let out some steam, and it would make sort of a hissing sound. Then the bell would be ringing. That was quite exciting."
