Obituary Greenbank

Another and almost the last of our first settlers has departed: this last in the person of Mr. Joseph Lee, who died on Saturday last. Mr. Lee resided in these parts for over 54 years, having come out from Cumberland County, England, and settled in York County at the age of 12. Then about 54 years ago he came out to this part and he with the other first settlers founded and with great interest watched the growth of this village and community. His wife, six daughters, (Mrs. Jas. Miller, Mrs. Geo. Real, Mrs. C. McMichael of Hamilton, Mrs. E. Bagshaw of Stayner, Mrs. S. Croxall of Uxbridge and Emma his youngest daughter) and four sons, John of Minneapolis, Wis., Reuben of Euclair, Wis., George and Tyson: are those of his family who survive him. Deceased was one of the most willing and zealous Christian workers in the community, having been a local preacher and class leader for about half a century, and his peaceful end showed that he had lived a life of faith in his master. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was very largely attended, especially considering the state of the roads.
