Grand Bend - Our Stories, Our Voice

What is the enchantment of Grand Bend and the cottage? I asked my three children who have led a somewhat nomadic life. They all agreed that one major factor is that The Bend doesn't change much. Store names change, attractions come and go but basically Grand Bend today is very like the Grand Bend they remember from their youth. And maybe that is part of the magic. In this constantly changing, busy world Grand Bend remains in something of a time warp. Like an old slipper it is comfortable.

Cam and I did not consider Grand Bend as a place to retire when we returned to Canada in 2002. However, the purchase of two cottages in the village and the establishment of a retirement business made moving here an option. As we grew to know present day Grand Bend better the attraction of the lifestyle became more and more evident. Far from the sleepy summer town we remembered the Bend has become a community of individuals from many walks of life with a common goal, to enjoy life to the fullest. To achieve that, the community works together and supports a wide variety of activities and events, more than enough to satisfy everyone. It is the people that make a place special and Grand Bend has opened its arms to us and the many that live here.

For this branch of the Taylors the cycle is complete. When we moved to Wee Lake last year both Cam and I felt we had come home. A.T. Taylor, Cam's grandfather would be pleased.
