Mr. Luc Béraud, former President of Batiscan's Historical Society, ''Batiscan et son histoire'', explains why the location of the parish's core changed during the course of the 19th century.

At that time, a petition was started to relocate the church at the very heart of the ''new'' village, because the state of the road in the winter made it almost impassable. Consequently, the parishioners had a lot of trouble making their way to attend Sunday mass.

The bishop of Trois-Rivières eventually approved the construction of the new church, which still stands in the village of Batiscan.
