Early settlers Donald and Min Gordon built their home at Swift Creek (later known as Valemount) in 1909.
Min Gordon was a midwife who delivered many of the town's babies. She also cured people with her natural remedies, which she's said to have learnt from her grandmother. Min was known for her gorgeous garden and her annual Christmas open house that lasted three or four weeks during which the table was covered with food - twenty four hours a day.
