The Lesser Scaup breeds in interion northwestern North America from central Alaska and western Canada (north to about the trree line) south to northern Idaho, northeastern Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa. It winters mainly in southern Bruitish Columbia, Colorado, Arkansas, southern Illinois , and eastern Maryland south to northern South America and the West Indies.28
