Georgina's paternal grandfather, Dr. William Archibald Stirling, an Irishman, came to Harbour Grace and set up his practice of medicine and surgery between 1808 and 1810. Dr. Stirling Sr. married Emma Mayne, daughter of Dr. John Mayne, an ex-naval surgeon of the Royal Navy, they had eleven sons

With the growing population, Twillingate needed medical services. Its first resident medical doctor was Dr. Tremblett in 1822; upon his death Dr. William C. Stirling, Jr. replaced him. Dr. Stirling was born at Harbour Grace, Nfld., a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; he was a surgeon and a general practitioner who set up his practice on Twillingate's North island. After his arrival in Twillingate he met and married Ann Peyton, daughter of John Peyton Jr. and Eleanor Mahaney.

Georgina's sister, Susannah Peyton Stirling was born in 1858. She married Rev. William Temple in 1881 at St. Peter's Church, the marriage ceremony was performed by the groom's brother Rev. Robert Temple.

Georgina's sister Lucy and only brother. Lucy also had much musical ability, she was often Georgina's travelling companion. Lucy never married. The boy's name was believed to be Peyton Stirling; when only a toddler, he died by accidental drowning.

Georgina's sister Kate Stuart Stirling. Kate went to Chicago to study art under Paul Adolphi Putzki. He specialized in teaching water-color painting and the painting of fine china. Paul Putzki fell in love with his young student and they were married in 1886 at Chicago.

Georgina's sister Rose with Kate's son Paul Putzki Jr. Rose remained a spinster, she lived in Naples, Italy for over twenty years before returning to Twillingate to spend her later years. It was with Rose that Georgina spend her final days.
