"School concerts were held every year at Christmas time. In mid-December the pupils were given parts to learn from plays. Christmas carols were practiced as well as recitations had to be learned. It was an exciting time. The most nervous person was the teacher. There was always a Santa Claus and he was performed by a local fellow. The school board was responsible for putting up the stage."

Very often the piano shared the front of the school with the "stage." Performances were varied and great effort was put forth to involve everyone. Acts included singing, plays, skits, recitations, readings as the following images illustrate. Note that many of the pictures show the back of the heads of the audience which indicates the space restrictions.
