25

Reconstruction of approximately 5.5 miles of the Inverness Railway and installation of three new bridges on the Cape Breton side was a project done by A.W. Wasson Co. of Minto, N.B. Re-direction of the rail line between Port Hastings and Port Hawkesbury also brought a change in the trunk highway between the two communities. The old railway line now is the route for the new Port Hawkesbury highway approach from Port Hastings. In addition the long neglected approach to Port Hawkesbury had been paved, giving Port Hawkesbury and area long-sought hard surfacing.
