Northern manufactured phones in their London Ontario plant from 1961 till its closure in 1994. They started with the 500 set, introduced Touch Tone dialling and manufactured a large variety of sets. The picture depicts the first all electronic phones, harsh mechanical ringers are replaced by more pleasing warbles. Sets have become much lighter and cheaper to manufacture. The very first electronic phone was in the 500 family, it retained the same housing and handset but all the parts save for the ringer were electronic.

The first all electronic model was the Harmony the red phone in the picture, it had one model instead of having different models for wall and desk, it carried on the tradition introduced by the Contempra.
