1

From 1900 to 1910 was a period of rapid development. PJ Mullen from South Dakota was a land agent in Millet. He was instrumental in successfully advertising Millet land to prospective American settlers in the Dakotas and in Nebraska. By 1905 the Village alone had a population of 75.

Wedding photograph of Leonard Gray and Enola Howard. Leonard Gray was the son of J.K. Gray. Leonard and Enola came to Millet from Montana as newlyweds in 1902. Leonard Gray was the first owner of the land on which Moonen Heights is located.

Originally from England, James and Sarah Blades came to Millet in 1902 from Minnesota, U.S.A. Jim Blades became Millet's first overseer in 1904. Sarah Blades had the first restaurant in Millet.

In 1902-1903, the second part of the Van Meter Building was built at the northwest corner of the intersection of 50th Street and 50th Avenue by B.A. Van Meter. His son-in-law Fred Blades ran a store there until 1907, when W.A. Robertson took it over.
The first store was built at the back part of the lot. It was then extended to Railway Street (50th) in 1906.

A picnic at Bonnie Glen that was organized by American Settlers from the Bonnie Glen area and from the Millet area. The picnic was held on July 4, 1909.
The Bonnie Glen District is approximately 25 miles west of Millet.
